Holiday Helper #12
Scared of the chaos of New Years Eve? Opting for a night in pyjamas? Don’t! There is no need to worry; ring in 2011 seamlessly and in style with these tips for a happy new year.
Skip the queues:
If you’ve taken it upon yourself to host pre and post New Years Eve celebrations you’re going to need to organise food and drinks. A tale of caution, queues at liquor outlets and supermarkets will rival Christmas Eve crowds so plan ahead and do the shopping a few days before.
Invite only:
By putting a bit of thought into the guest list for a New Years Eve party could save you the stress of playing hostess all night. An intimate group of friends you already know will “gel” well works best. For a mixed group, try a New Years Eve party game to create conversations. Get each guest to write down their New Year resolution, read them out randomly and let everyone guess which resolution belongs to whom.

Taxi!
Transportation on the evening is a nightmare if not planned ahead. The easiest way is to pre-book car transfers to and from your party destination.
The wind down:
Before the celebrations make sure your home is equipped for extra guests who might be staying the night. Ring in spare blankets, pillows and blow up mattresses for an unexpected slumber party.
